Villa Vipp Puglia opens its doors | Design-led guesthouse in Italy

Villa Vipp Puglia, a whitewashed countryside retreat that emerges from the beautiful Pugliese countryside, is the latest guesthouse opening from Danish brand Vipp.

It’s an offer that’s hard to refuse – spending a night amongst centuries-old olive groves, overlooking the verdant hillsides in the idyllic Italian village of Ostuni. This dreamy destination was designed by Dutch studio Studiotoff, showing respect to the architectural vernacular of the protected historic area.

“Having fallen in love with Puglia, I stumbled upon Studiotoff and their magnificent architectural projects in the area,” explains Kasper Egelund, CEO and 3rd generation Vipp owner, who collaborated with Dutch design studio to create a minimalist haven for the discerning, design-conscious traveller.

“The one-storey family guesthouse echoes Puglia’s whitewashed building typology punctuating the scenic landscape,” Egelund adds.

While three double bedrooms, two bathrooms and a open-plan kitchen and living area occupy the interiors, the outdoor space offers further indulgence with a luxurious infinity pool and veranda lounge area. After a day of exploring what the region has to offer, guests can enjoy a refreshing dip or a relaxing siesta – complete bliss!

Studiotoff and Vipp have curated a collection of contemporary furniture that creates a comfortable home-from-home

“It’s a project charged with the classic saying of ‘Il dolce far niente’ (meaning the sweetness of doing nothing), where guests are welcomed into a timeless pocket where slowness sets the agenda,” explains the team at Vipp.

The curation of furniture works in harmony with its laid-back setting and is juxtaposed with objects that add a rustic charm, reminiscent of the historic rural landscape. Keeping to a monochrome colour palette, the powder-coated grey, freestanding Vipp kitchen is complemented by the modular sofa, for a relaxed and sociable space.

“While the surroundings ooze of Italy’s old charm, the interior is resolutely Danish,” notes Kasper Egelund. “A warm minimalism that doesn’t scream for attention but conveys a subtle sophisticated experience.”

In the fully equipped grey Vipp kitchen, guests will find thoughtful and locally sourced ingredients, such as jars of olive oil harvested from the garden and wine produced for the neighbouring fields.

To enhance the cultural ambience, there are classic Italian soundtracks ready to be played from the built-in speakers for pure enjoyment.

A seamless connection is formed between indoors and out, with glass doors opening up and out onto a patio and an exterior concrete staircase leading up to a large rooftop terrace. This generous outdoor space overlooks the vast veranda and adds an extra 47 square-metres to the villa.

We recommend you book enough time to make the most of the Vipp Villa Puglia as well as the beautiful surrounding area. It’s only a 20-minute drive from the guesthouse to the rocky Adriatic coastline where you’ll find the ‘White Cities’ of Ostuni and Cisternino, for those who want to get out and explore more.
