The Splash Lab x ATELIERwest

You may remember enki introducing you to the new, innovative wash space design brand, The Splash Lab founded by brothers Justin and Fraser Lovell in an article we posted back in September (click here to read it). The brand have recently been commissioned by architecture and design practice, ATELIERwest to co-create the washrooms for new, London-based Italian wine bar and restaurant, Bottles.

Located in the Old Spitalfields Market, the new venture is a collaboration between Franco Mancini and Daniele Marano, the co-founders of Bottles & Battles wine bar in Borough’s Mercato Metropolitano, as well as the pop-up restaurant concept SOOD Family. Bottles brings a fresh new approach to the wine bar concept by specialising in sustainable, organic and bio-dynamic wines from independent producers and small farms in Italy. Sitting alongside this selection is also a wonderfully curated collection of international wines and small Italian plates.

Six of The Spash Lab’s products were chosen by architects, ATELIERwest for the project to meet the clients’ brief of a luxury commercial washroom space with a beautifully minimal design-led twist. The warmth of the brand’s metallic finishes works perfectly with the dark polished plaster of the walls, floor, ceiling and washbasin, creating quite the standout space for the new, East London venture.

“With such a small space it was very important to get the balance just right. Materiality, colour, texture and illumination needed to come together in exactly the right ratio to achieve comfort and harmony and we think we got the mix just right by adding The Splash Lab hardware to the washrooms in the basement. The introduction of The Splash Lab finishes was something that fit the bill perfectly.”  Tim Welch, Architectural Assistant at ATELIERwest.
