Welcoming visitors to its brand new London showroom, Fritz Fryer has opened a lighting emporium filled with inspiration in Clerkenwell. In this area which is renowned for being a vibrant design district and home to an abundance of contemporary design and architectural innovators, the company introduces its British-made, contemporary and antique lighting.
The Victorian building is alive with history, featuring full-length sash windows adorned with a variety of contemporary chandelier designs and hand-restored antique chandeliers. Showing an appreciation of old and new has always been instilled in the ethos of Fritz Fryer, since opening its first antique restoration shop on the Ross-on-Wye high street in Herefordshire in 1982. This new showroom brings together a complete collection of lighting along with a bespoke service for anyone who is looking for truly original lighting.
“We are so excited to have opened a showroom in London to showcase our designs. So many of our lights end up in the capital and we work with many fantastic designers, architects and specifiers in London, so we hope it will make their job easier when dealing with us. That’s not to forget all the clients who phone us in Ross On Wye asking where they can see our lights in London – it’s so lovely to now be able to tell them we’re in Clerkenwell,” enthuse Simon and Karen Wallis-Smith, owners and directors at Fritz Fryer.
As you walk around the new space, you’ll find carefully curated displays of the different styles of lights available. “As part of the original Fritz Fryer team, who mainly concentrated on the antiques and restoration side of the business, it’s great that, as well as the modern lighting, we now have a selection of our hand-restored antiques showcased in our new London showroom,” says James, senior antique restorer.
The building, at 1 Albermarle Way, Clerkenwell, is now open on an appointment basis.
