Feel good zone: The Duravit Balcoon bathroom range creates a pared-back, timeless aesthetic that simultaneously exudes warmth and accessibility.

Patricia Urquiola’s design language captures the essence of a minimal bathroom, where modernity meets timelessness. Premium features unite with first-class finishing, as the designer and Duravit set a new standard for affordable luxury in the bathroom.

Inspired by geometry, the collection plays with architectural lines and shapes. The above-counter wash basin is a great example of this, extending beyond its utilitarian function as a focal point of the room as it confidently rests on a square plinth. Creating a clear design language, this juxtaposition of levels echoes throughout the collection – through not only the the wall-mounted wash basins, but also the toilets, bidets, furniture elements and bathtubs.

Form, colour and materials are curated to out-live the ever-changing trends found on our feeds, and Patricia Urquiola has mastered an earthy terracotta shade for the Balcoon ceramic objects which brings the tactile qualities of the collection to life. “Clay Terra Matt is the central colour of the new collection. A shade that makes the ceramics look more authentic and handmade” says the designer.

This also guides the nature-inspired palette for the bathroom furniture, giving rise to unique colour combinations that flow from white to earthy brown and into anthracite.

Accented edge: The Balcoon acrylic built-in bathtubs feature two visually striking details: the oval raised edge which sits on a seamless acrylic panel that extends into the corners and is easy to clean. While the ergonomically shaped interior is an invitation to indulge in a luxurious bathing experience.

Looking at the console, a special spacial dimension is created with its integrated rear panel and Balcoon washing area elements. The crafted piece of furniture is overlaid with the fronts of the storage solutions beneath, which Patricia Urquiola designed as an unusual, partly asymmetrical arrangement of drawers and open shelves.

Contrasts: The compact washing area combines a black console, vanity unit and above-counter basin in the earthy shade Clay Terra Matt – a strong and elegant ensemble.

The dimensions of the furniture is also reinforced by contrasting colours. The designer opted for simple finishes in a range of gradients as standard for the affordable collection. “The furniture is given a very special upgrade with consoles in a sophisticated terrazzo look and ribbed furniture fronts,” Patricia explains.

Matching faucets for the washing area, bidet, shower and bathtub offer the final touches to the suite, with cylindrical handle transitions that gently curve into the faucet body for a satisfying hold. Available in three surface variants of Chrome, Matt Black and Stainless Steel, each has been selected to compliment the colour spectrum of the range.

The Balcoon faucets also offer resource-saving functions (Fresh Start and Minus Flow) that work to save on energy and water. While the ceramics are crafted with Duravit’s DuraShield® technology; a revolutionary two in one protective glaze that eliminates 99.99% of bacteria and where dirt and limescale washes off easily.
