One of Scandinavia’s best-known brands, Carl Hansen & Søn are opening a new London Flagship store in Pimlico – their second London location – due to the rise in UK demand for Danish mid-century design.
The company is behind some of the most renowned designers of the Golden Age of Danish Design, including the likes of Kaare Klint and Hans J. Wegner. The new, 220 square-metre Pimlico store will play host to the brand’s entire collection of modern classics created by Danish design masters (including the likes of Poul Kjærholm, Mogens Koch, Arne Jacobsen and Børge Mogensen) and will work with the brand’s Clerkenwell showroom to cater for differing needs, be it for private customers, to architects and interior designers to both residential and contract markets.

Customers will love the mid-twentieth century building and the way in which the brand has carefully curated and design its interior. The flagship store’s design takes inspiration from the company’s history, using heritage colours including dark green, burgundy, subtle greys and navy blue and pairing them with oak floors and antique teak shop counters (from Knud Erik Hansen’s former career with historic Danish shipping group the East Asiatic Company). Plus, we love that they also have built in a bespoke kitchen that can be used to host private events.
