Carl Hansen & Søn | New Flagship Store

Carl Hansen & Søn are unveiling a new flagship store in Osaka’s Design District this June 2018…

Responding to the rapidly growing demand in the region, and only four years after the brand opened their first flagship store in Tokyo, Japan, the brand have decided to open a new store set in the heart of the fashionable Minami-Horie district. Visitors will be able to indulge in the Carl Hansen & Søn world, discovering the label’s extensive collection of Danish furniture icons by designers including Hans J. Wegner, Kaare Klint and Arne Jacobsen.

The new store will be located on Orange Street, a cultural destination that is known for its furniture outlets. Redeveloped in the early 2000s, the street is now home to an amazing array of prominent fashion, furniture, architecture and other intriguing creative shops and businesses.

The new store’s aesthetic will bring a different side of the Carl Hansen & Søn brand to the table. The Osaka flagship will showcase a more industrial aesthetic than the one based in Tokyo. Prepare for striking elements such as a concrete staircase with Modernist-inspired detailing and a contemporary blend of interior elements.

“Japan is Carl Hansen & Søn’s second largest market outside Scandinavia, and it is of utmost importance to us to be present in a design-conscious city like Osaka. The new Osaka store – our second flagship store in Japan, in addition to Tokyo – strengthens our position in the market, particularly in Western Japan, and helps us serve the Kyoto region. We are especially pleased to have a presence on Orange Street in Osaka’s Minami-Horie district, known for its cultural richness and strong architecture and design presence.” Knud Erik Hansen, CEO and third-generation owner of Carl Hansen & Søn
