From forest to finished piece, Benchmark are positioned as a leader in sustainable enterprise. For them, making WELL is creating furniture that gives more than it takes, moving beyond just minimising negative impacts and ensuring that their furniture delivers a positive impact for both the environment and our health and wellbeing. They believe that it is only when they consider the materials they use, the way they design, the quality of their making, how they manufacture and distribute, and what happens to their furniture at the end of its life, that they can create something that can be truly considered Made WELL.
Benchmark’s furniture is made from natural, sustainable, non-toxic and healthy materials and finished with natural oils and waxes. This includes their upholstery which is made from natural latex, coir and wool which meets fire regulations without the need for toxic fire retardant chemicals. They have also developed their own natural wool fabric collection created for those who are pursuing a fully natural offering that doesn’t compromise on aesthetics.
Over the last 10 years, Benchmark have pioneered and invested in Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) and Declare labelling to provide clear and unambiguous information about the materials used in their furniture and the impact it has on our environment and our health.
